Benidorm is the tourist hotspot in the Costa Blanca and possibly the most famous Tourist area in all Spain. Its origins only date to the 1960’s when general Franco, after much persuasion decreed that tourists could sunbathe in bikinis on the beach , Hence the boom started. And it is a boom, the town is permanent residence to 60,000 people but during the summer the town houses ten times that amount . A long time favourite with the British, the town is all for tourists and is what you make of it, During the summer its a non stop party but its not just Discos. Many ex-pats live out here either permanently or for parts of the year and there are clusters of bars and clubs everywhere that should suit all ages and tastes. There are two beaches in Benidorm stretching about 5 km both sides of the resort from Poniente to Malpas. During the summer months the beaches are heaving but full of life and activities. There are international restaurants of a good standard in Benidorm but the majority of restaurants are either fast food chains or egg and chip places. For the more exotic you can also try egg, chips and beans!. Benidorm has hundreds of attractions with water parks,safaris,Karting and casinos all directly local.
