Calella:

Calella is an old fishing town with cobbled streets that is popular with visitors from Barcelona. Due to its proximity to reus airport it has become more and more popular with british and Irish holiday makers. The beach in Calella stretches for almost 4 kilometres and is home to many forms of watersport.Like many beaches on the Costa Brava it can shelve severely so care is advised with younger children. The restaurant scene is excellent in Calella particularly in the Spanish restaurants around Pineda that cater to Barcelona residents who are used to a higher standard. There is also a reasonably lively night scene around El Faro, although night clubs and discos tend to be reserved to hotels and does not spill out on to the streets. Barcelona is only a train stop away for serious shoppers.A day journey is only a few euros for Calella.
