Playa de aro Or in catalunian Platja de aro is a cosmopolitan resort about 80 kilometres north of Barcelona. Home to one of the best beaches in the costa brava which stretches for nearly 2 kilometres, and shelves slowly into the sea, providing safe, shallow swimming for youngsters. The resort itself is a mix of low rise hotels and self catering apartments . It is good area to consider hiring a villa as there are many fine houses to rent a little bit inland. Popular with sporting types the hotels in the resort are generally equipped with gyms and leisure facilities. Golfers will find the local Mas Nou course a challenge. Restaurants in the area are truly international with excellent opportunities for above par dining, with some fine tapas and seafood restaurants. Playa de Aro whilst not being a party town does have a vibrant nightlife particularly in high summer with nightclubs opening late.
