Tossa de mar is centrally located in the costa brava about 100 kilometers from Barcelona. A picturesque bay flanked by rolling mountains , Tossa de mar is where you want to look if relaxation is on the menu. Although very quiet it is on the bus route to the more touristy towns, there are also regular buses to shuttle you to the theme parks and aquaparks. The seafront is home to some excellent and authentic seafood restaurants. The main tourist sites of note are the 12^° century walled castle or vella. Near to the town is the Sa Riera nature reserve. There is enough beach for everyone in Tossa de mar and it never gets overcrowded even in high summer . The sand does tend to be a hard shingle so bring your flipflops.
