Calafell , the most northerly resort on the Gold coast is all about the mega beach and the sunbathing /watersports that go with it. The resort is Located only 50km from Barcelona and is easily accessible by train, because of this there are many weekend visitors. Calafell is busy and lively. The architecture beyond the promenade and marina is not particularly attractive and although the promenade stretches out with a good selection of bars and restaurants’ the vista in the background is of concrete apartments, many of which now look dated. Calafell is only a short distance from the Aventura Theme Park, one of the largest of its kind in Europe. It offers an exciting day for adults as well as children with some thrilling rides that are not for the faint-hearted. There is no shortage of facilities in the town and the shopping is pretty good but serious shoppers should trek up to Barca for the day. In summary a build up resort thats not too active at night but does host a beautiful safe beach and is a good spot for a quiet family break.
