Cadiz
Cadiz:
On the South western coast of spain, the costa de la luz sits between the Mediterranean and The vast Atlantic. It is thought that this geographical position is why Cadiz , thought to be the oldest constantly inhabited city in Spain was founded, and why it has continued to prosper. A town of historical importance , those seeking culture and history will find much to explore here. Apart from The sites and Museums Cadiz is also a modern working town with good shopping and eating and some excellent beaches. The main beach in Cadiz is the famous Playa Victoria which goes from the centre of Cadiz up to San Fernando. As Cadiz is built on a promontory, like an Island it is surrounded by coast, However the influence of the Atlantic makes the water in the costa de la luz a bit cooler than further up the coast. Nightlife in Cadiz is varied and can go on late in some quarters however the costa de la Luz is laid back and does not cater to the party crowd. For a more traditional beach holiday resort you could venture a little easterly up the coast to La Barrosa. No holiday in Playa de la luz is complete without a day spent in Cadiz.
