Islantilla is a very popular man made resort that was only really put on the map in the late 80’s. Like much of the costa de la luz, Planners have restricted the building of giant concrete complexes and the resort is low rise and attractive. Islantilla grew as a resort because of an amazing beach and the resort today is a mecca for sunbathers. There Are some nice small towns to visit nearby. Cadiz and Sevilla are worth a day out but Portugal and the Algarve are only 40 minutes drive away. Although the resort is quiet it is adequately stocked with shops and supermarkets in the commercial centre. Nightlife in Islantilla is pretty low key with only a few bars and restaurants that don’t open too late.
