La Barrosa close to Cadiz on the Playa de la Luz has been a popular beach resort with Spanish holidaymakers for decades. The resort has recently received more and more visitors from Britain and mainland Europe but like the rest of the costa de la Luz has strict building regulations which restricts ugly high rise tower block apartments. The beaches are considered some of the best in Spain and are lined by palm trees. The promenade in the evenings is lined with bars and restaurants. Like the rest of the Costa there are no wild late nights to be had, just a gentle relaxing time. Although the resort is quiet and laid back and space on the beaches plentiful, in high season of July and August there is a huge influx of Spanish holidaymakers. For shopping and days out try the nearby towns of Cadiz and La Frontera.
