Estepona

Estepona:

Estepona, 25km west of Marbella and 80km west of Malaga airport is the last major resort in the costa del sol. For a time it looked like the old town was going to be swamped, Benalmadena style by concrete high rises, but development thankfully slowed down and the old Moorish town which saw off the Barbary pirates has held off the tourist invasion. The main beach of La Rada runs for about 2 kms and is lined with gardens well stocked with flowers and palm trees. Like the rest of the costa del sol there are a number of options for golfers with at least eight courses in close proximity. Estepona is home to a famous bullring but with the decline of the spectacle it now only hosts about 12 fights a year with a number of concerts and events being its main business. The town has a modern marina which attracts a mostly Spanish crowd to some very nice bars and restaurants. Apart from this it tends to be quiet at night. Some of the best restaurants can be found in the old town around the town square the plaza de la Flores.
