Mijas
Mijas :
Mijas just up the coast from Fuengirola is divided into two distinct areas. Mijas Pueblo the old village is a fine example of a pretty white washed Andalucian village, with twisting cobbled streets. Like most old towns it is perched up in the hills with panoramic views down the coast . Mijas Costa is the newer resort area which has sprung up near the village to service the tourist industry. Located down on the seafront it is actually about 3km from Mijas pueblo itself. Bright and modern the locale around Mijas costa takes in the neighbourhoods of Playa Calahonda and Riviero del sol and in total has about 10km of clear beaches. Nowhere near as commercialised as its neighbour Fuengirola. The apartment complexes and villas have been planned to avoid the high rise look and the area attracts many visitors from Scandinavia and mainland Europe. The area between the Pueblo and the coast is known as “golf valley” as it is home to many world class golf resorts.
The resort has many good bars and restaurants that are higher standard than your usual holiday fare, at night the promenade can be lively with bars and live music but clubbers may need to get a taxi up towards Benalmadena.
