Velez Malaga

Velez Malaga :

Velez is the municipal capital of the Axarquia region in the Costa Del Sol. Located about 4km inland from the coastal town of Torre Del mar. Although it does attract tourists it is mostly a large market town that can trace its roots back to the 13^th century Nasrid Kingdom of Grenada, and as such is full of historical sights. As you would expect of a town of its size Velez has an excellent variety of restaurants. The area is famous for its quality of muscadel grapes and local dessert wines are highly regarded. Nightlife however is almost non existant in Velez and anyone seeking a more traditional sun and fun excursion should head for Torre Del mar. The town has a weekly market and nearby is the modern shopping complex of El Ingenio.
